I got an honor a few weeks ago that not many will ever get in life... I was able to go listen to Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor, writer, scholar, and humanitarian. He was speaking in a lecture series at Vanderbilt University on civility. It truly meant as much to me to hear him as anyone else on this earth. To me, his face tells the story of a thousand lifetimes.

Mother/Daughter Time...
Tina's a coworker of mine and she had asked me to take some pictures of her and her mom while her mom is in town this summer. I had done a fall shoot of Tina and her husband this past year. I was so honored to get to spend an afternoon (that was, thankfully, cloudy) with them and snap some sweet pictures of them. Thanks, Tina, and Mom, it was great to meet you too!

A Mom and Her Girl
Just before we left for our vacation (hours before, in fact!), the Varners came over for a mother-daughter session. They were a lot of fun for me to photograph and had a great bond with each other. Thankfully, the weather was overcast and not as hot as it had been, so we were pretty comfortable getting our great pictures! Here they are, ladies. Hope you love them!

Family Ties
Katelyn's mom had referred some new clients to me so they came over this afternoon for a fun family session. This family is Mama Hazel, daughter Lisa, and neice Jeanna. Hanging out with Hazel, Lisa, and Jeanna was a really funny experience (and thankfully they had someone to help them pick their pictures!). It was so great to meet all of you and I would love to see you again sometime! :)

The Blues...
This one was a favorite of a few of them...
This is Mom's favorite (and mine!)...
We thought this one turned out especially cute!
This family was certainly NOT singing the blues! They were hilarious with each other, as I should have expected, knowing Arden practically my whole life from church. I have photographed his daughter, Aerial, before, but this time I got a chance to meet his brothers and sisters and his sweet mom. I think my favorite moment was when they were trying to decide on their (CHEAP) big 16x20 and they asked their mom which one (of two) she preferred. She called one out, then the kids asked to see the other one. Arden's sister said, "Let's see that other one in case we have to tell Mom which one she prefers." Guess what? Mom got her pick! :)

All Grown Up

Tonight I got to spend time having the most fun with a great family! I have always loved Debbie and had met her nice husband, Scott. I did Haley's Sweet Sixteen session but I do not remember ever having met Jeremy, his wife Katie, or Ryan. Debbie wanted to do a session with her "all grown up" family now that all are out of high school. I have to say, these guys were so sweet. Like I told my mom, knowing Debbie it shouldn't have surprised me at all, but these kids were some of the kindest and most fun people I have met in a long time. They really seem like they all have such a great time together. It's not often that I pine for my own two to be grown, but I think I got a glimpse tonight of how much fun it probably is to enjoy your "all grown up" children!
