Harris Yuletide

Silly, silly me! I thought we nearly froze to death last week with the Inman family... that was before the 29 degree, biting wind, blowing snow conditions of today with the Harris kids! Whew! I felt so sorry for those babies but we did it really really fast and Kraig had hot chocolate waiting back at the house, so all was well. This family has been part of our church family for a couple of years now and I have so enjoyed knowing all of them. Abby and my Kelsey are BFF and I just think she is the most adorable, sweet, precious child EVER. :) Ray, Angela, Emily, Addison, and Abby... hope you guys like the pics! I am just glad we got it done quickly! :)

The Sweet Rutherford Family at the Barn

These guys have been at our church for a year and a half now, but I feel like I have known them forever. Tanya was PTO President at my children's school the same year that she became our church secretary, they became members at our church, and Kylee was in my class at school. That was a lot of Rutherford! :) I have soooo enjoyed getting to know each one of them. Tanya does an amazing job as our church secretary and we are so blessed to have her with us. The kids are wonderful, Kyle and my husband, Kraig, teach a 4 year old boys' class together, and we are just so glad to call them all our friends! I was really excited to take their family pictures for Christmas and I cannot wait to do their whole extended family one day very soon. Hope you guys like them!

Their First Tender Tennessee Christmas....

The Garrod family moved here this past summer. I first became acquainted with them in a Wednesday night elective class I was teaching about the Lessons of the Holocaust for the Church. They just seemed so interested and gave such great feedback (you know how we teachers LOVE that!) that I just felt drawn to them. We ended up getting to know each other quite well and I was so excited to take their family Christmas pictures! Mike, Amanda, Andrew, Jessica, and Hayley, thanks for letting me hang with you guys this morning! John and Juli, thanks for giving part of your Saturday for us to do this!

These Three Howells

One family from church who I have always photographed around but never gotten to PHOTOGRAPH is the Howell family. I have done lots of pictures for their extended family, and one shoot of the extended family of their extended family’s in-law. (That makes perfect sense, right?) :) But TODAY... TODAY I got to take pictures of the Howell family. Raffe got his braces off this week and that smile is just too adorable. I cannot believe how old he looks in these pictures! It is actually kind of sad to me because if all these kids are growing up, guess who is growing old??? Howell’s, you looked awesome and I had a great time taking your Christmas pictures!!!

Cute as a Button

Wendy had Brayden over here a few weeks ago for Nikki’s senior session. Today, Brayden got a session ALL HIS OWN. :) And he loved it! This kid... there really aren’t words for how much that little mischievous smile will melt your heart. He looked SO cute in his outfit and John Deere boots and I had such fun taking his pictures! Brayden, you are a doll. And Buck loves you. :)

"Caroling" at Christmas

Some kids are willing to humor their parents and do things for them that might not have been their top choice all the time. Zach is one of those kids. His mom wanted him to take some Christmas pictures for her today and, kind and loving boy that he is, he complied. I had a wonderful time getting to know Zach and his mom today, and I am so glad you guys called for a session! The spring family pictures are going to be greeeaaat!!!! :)

Riad Family Christmas

You know how sometimes you will see a child and it is like you are looking back into your childhood at a friend of yours? And sometimes that child IS the child of your friend? That’s what it was like looking at Miss Lauren today. Her mother, Lori, grew up with me. We spent several summers together at Signal Mtn COG Youth Camp. Lori and Marc brought Lauren and Braxton over today for some family Christmas card shots and these kids were simply hilarious!!! Braxton is such a ham and I think Lauren can hold her own with him as well! I had such a good time with this family and I am anxious to do those family spring pics! :)

Silver Stable

From the 10, come 8. And these 8 all belong to Nana (Pam) and Grandad (Doug). All Nana wants for Christmas is pictures of her babies. Well, pictures of her babies she got! And good ones, too! Pictured are: Andrew (15), the gentle heart; Chloe (11), the athlete; Kassidy (7), the girly-girl; Eli (7), the enthusiast; Elisha (6). the thinker; Yasmine (4), the animal lover; Dylan (3), the mellow guy; and Jacob (6 months)... well, he’s just a doll. I am so incredibly impressed with how easily this session happened and you guys are the most wonderful subjects ever! :) Love you!

Ten Greats

My grandmother and grandaddy are the luckiest people on the planet. They get to look at these ten faces and think, “It all started with us.” :) These kids are all so much fun, these great grandchildren of Aleene and JD Silver. They love life and they love each other, and taking pictures of them can be quite a challenge. You perhaps remember this disastrous picture from last year... :) However, this year things went quite quickly and quite easily and we got some great shots. I just love these little people... thanks for indulging me!

Christmas in a Stable... No, Not That One

I have finally nailed down my plan for Christmas sessions. I am doing Christmas mini-sessions on December 4. These sessions will last around 30 minutes, no outfit changes. You will be able to choose a couple of different locations from the following: the stable/inside the barn, the fence, the field/red chair, or the shed (the red shed). Family groups are welcome, just children, couples, pets, etc. I am really excited about these, as they are much different than my typical Christmas sessions. I am calling this a Rustic Christmas. :) Stay tuned, because our family is doing ours within the next couple of days and you can see our sample shots. You can wear Christmas colors, regular clothes, dress up, dress down, pajamas, Santa hats, costumes... whatever you want.

So what do you get? And for how much? I'm glad you asked.

Sessions are $25. For that price, you will be able to select (from approximately 40-50 shots) an 8x10, a 5x7, 8 wallets, and 5 4x6s. Christmas cards are available or you can get a copyright release to one image for $10 to do your own cards.

Book quickly before the times are gone! Email (athenadavisphotography@yahoo.com) or facebook (Davis Photography) is the easiest way to reach me. If you want a full session or if you would prefer Wednesday, 11/24, I can possibly to a couple that day.

Twas the Day Before Christmas...

On Christmas Eve, I had promised Lois I would come over for a session of her family. Like the Coile/Palmer's, we have been doing these sessions every year for several years. I also enjoy time with the Wyche family! The Laney kids are just adorable and so much fun. Thanks so much, Lois and JoAnna and families! I had so much fun!

Christmas Lights, Family Traditions

I have gotten to do pictures of the Coile/Palmer families for the past three years. Different family units are able to come each year, but we always have a lot of fun. We met at Cathy's house this year and (thankfully!) even got the Christmas lights into a couple of them. :) Thanks so much, all of you. I had a good time.

Here's to the Birthday Boy Who Saved Our Lives

"We get so caught up in all of it
Business and relationships
Hundred mile an hour lives
And it's this time of year
And everybody's here
It seems the last thing on your mind

Is that the day holds something special
Something holy, not superficial
So here's to the Birthday Boy who saved our lives
Christmas must be something more."
~Taylor Swift

On this evening before the world actually stops to recognize a little baby, born in a manger, worshipped by shepherds and guarded by oxen, heralded by angels and cared for by teenagers, I want to say how awed I am that He cares for me, in my crazy life, too busy sometimes to thank Him and often too preoccupied to even see His hands. Lord and Savior, King of the World, Light of the Darkness, Giver of Good Things, Prince of Peace-- I love and honor you on this evening of calm in the midst of craziness. Thank you for all You have done for me. Thank you for who you are. And I will remember Whose I am.

Merry Christmas to You and Yours, from Davis Photography

All I Want for Christmas

Is These Two Sweet Things!

Even though I felt terrible today, these dresses were the outfits I had saved for the girls' formal Christmas pictures. So.... I drug my poor, sick, medicated body downstairs to the studio to quickly snap a couple of shots of them in their adorable dresses when they got home from church. These two make Christmas, every other holiday, and every day a pleasure and adventure for Kraig and I. We are truly blessed.

Santa... Daddy???

The Garcia family-- Jay, Jessica, Jaylee, and Cameron-- came over yesterday to do a last-minute mini-Christmas session. These kids are so pleasant and they are SO easily entertained! (Of course, living with Jay, entertainment comes cheap in that household, I feel sure...) :) We laughed (and danced and sang!) a lot during our time together and I am so glad we got to do some adorable Christmas shots! Thanks, guys!
