Break a Leg!

Gerald is this guy's uncle. He talked to me at Cameron's birthday party about doing some headshots for him to use in his developing acting career. After being rained out once, we were happy to finally get them done on a beautiful, late summer Wednesday afternoon. I told him, if acting doesn't work out, I think he could make it in modeling!

Beautiful Courtney...

I was so excited when Dana contacted me about doing senior pictures for her daughter, Courtney. Even better, Dana and her son Tanner were going to come as well to do some of the whole family. Tanner (while he does NOT enjoy photography) is one of my very favorite former students, so it was really nice to get to see him too. The session was wonderful and Courtney is SO beautiful! She was really great to get to know and photograph because her inner beauty shines through.

One Day...

Yet again, I am so thankful to my previous clients. I don't really advertise at all and I am awful at utilizing my Davis Photography facebook (because I am just not sure HOW to use it in the business sense-- I am REALLY good at using my personal one!) and lately I have been pretty terrible at keeping this blog updated. How do I keep getting phone calls? Word of mouth. In this particular situation, the mom of these boys and the mom of this girl sent this sweet couple my way. Steven and Jessica were just a total joy to photograph. They are both mature, pleasant young people who really were very easy to get to know and fun to hang out with. I had a great time today and I wish them both the best in everything their future holds!

Today, a Frudent; Tomorrow, a Friend.

In my "real" job, there are lots and lots of perks. (There are also some downsides, but those are very few and the perks largely outweigh them.) One of those perks is that I get to know some of the most awesomely amazing kids who grow into these phenomenal adults. This year's senior group contains some pretty wonderful people. Kaitlyn is one of these. I taught her three years ago, as a sophomore honors student, this past year as a junior in Holocaust Lit, and I will get to have her THIS year in AP English. She is also part of a small group from Holocaust Lit who traveled to Memphis with me last school year for a whirlwind conference. On that trip, we were talking about the unique relationship and bond that teachers and students have with each other. I am always quick to point out that we are NOT friends. I truly love them, and I think they love me, but there is a line that has to be there to have an effective educational environment. They always laugh and roll their eyes (and sometimes act hurt) when I make that statement. On that trip, someone (can't remember which one) coined the words "freacher/frudent". This is a mix of friend/teacher and friend/student. I thought that was perfect. :) Because one day soon, I will think of Kaitlyn as my friend. She is just the sort of person I LOVE to have as a friend...

She is smart, funny, loves to read and discuss books (HELLO!!!), and has a zest for life that shines through everything she does. She is sensitive without being dramatic and sarcastic without being mean. I have had the best time getting to know her better every year and I know this year will be no different. Kaitlyn, your pics are gorgeous because YOU are gorgeous, and what makes you gorgeous is way more than your eyes and hair... it's that spirit and spunk that you have that bubbles out of you. I had such fun taking your pictures and I look forward to "AP our senior year". :)

She's Ready to Move On...

I have enjoyed every single time I have gotten to take pictures of this sweet girl. The Lambert family is one of my favorite families at my church (from WEST VIRGINIA!) and I always love to be around them! We have done lots of sessions over the years (Sweet Sixteen and Senior for her sister, Tenielle, prom sessions, and recently a Sweet Sixteen for Taylor). I am just waiting on the day we get to do a family session for all the Lamberts! :)

"Caroling" at Christmas

Some kids are willing to humor their parents and do things for them that might not have been their top choice all the time. Zach is one of those kids. His mom wanted him to take some Christmas pictures for her today and, kind and loving boy that he is, he complied. I had a wonderful time getting to know Zach and his mom today, and I am so glad you guys called for a session! The spring family pictures are going to be greeeaaat!!!! :)

So Long, High School!

Courtney's session was a while back but it took us a while to finally meet up and get the pictures chosen. I have gotten to take Courtney's prom pictures and I also did her Sweet Sixteen shots a couple of years ago. Courtney always has on cool shoes (!) and I have always really enjoyed her pleasant, laid-back personality. It seems hard to believe that it's been two years since I met her! Courtney, I know everyone is so proud of your time in high school and I hope that your senior year is wonderful! You are a sweet girl and I appreciate the opportunity to take your pictures!

Sweet, Sweet Ciara

Ciara is 16 and she came over on Monday afternoon to take her Sweet Sixteen shots. I just so enjoyed getting to know her and her sweet mama!!! They were such kind, polite people and her pictures are SO full of personality! Ciara brought her grandmother's red heels for some of her shots... in fact, Ciara wore three different pairs of shoes in the pictures! :) We had a great time and I hope you guys love your pictures.

The Beginning of the End

Sunday afternoon, I had the privilege of taking Nikki's Senior pictures. She is such a beautiful girl and I have done her prom pictures for her sophomore and junior years. This session was extra fun because she brought along a few special people and took some shots with them (another post on that to come!). It is obvious what kind of girl Nikki is when you see how much her family and friends dote on her. Relationships say a lot about people! Nikki, I hope you love your pictures!!!

All Dressed Up and Headed Out...

I was very excited to meet a group for my second Bradley prom session at the Country Club. We had a beautiful area to take some pictures, aside from dodging a few golf balls. :) These guys and gals looked stunning and I had a lot of fun with them. We took some fun shots, even though the fellows were done before we were actually DONE. (You did great, guys!) All of you looked fabulous and I hope your evening was everything you had hoped and more!!!
