This tradition, as long as I have known it, is as old as Emma is. Her first Christmas, she was 7 months old, and we took the kids to Sears to have their pictures made for Nana and Papa. Back then, there were only five kids. Back then, I did not take pictures as a business. Back then, we did pictures as a surprise for Nana and Papa. Back then, life moved a little slower. Seven years later, there are eight kids who are photographed by Davis Photography with Nana and Papa and it is a whirlwind of a holiday and life! Davis Cousins, here’s to you... may you always get as much joy out of being together as you do right now.

Thirteen days till Christmas... Does that strike fear in the heart of any of you procrastinators out there? I can help!
Buy a Davis Photography gift certificate as a present for that hard-to-buy-for parent, the teacher instead of another mug, the new mom, the boyfriend/girlfriend (major bonus points if it's a girlfriend!), or the person you forgot and now have no time to shop for! OR, if you wanted pictures to give as a gift and you have let time get away from you and it's too late to schedule, give a gift certificate!
These can be used for full sessions, mini-holiday sessions (Valentine's Day and Easter will be here before we know it!),and toward reprints/enlargements from previous sessions. Email (athenadavisphotography@yahoo.com) or facebook message me (Davis Photography on facebook) to purchase your gift certificate!

Silly, silly me! I thought we nearly froze to death last week with the Inman family... that was before the 29 degree, biting wind, blowing snow conditions of today with the Harris kids! Whew! I felt so sorry for those babies but we did it really really fast and Kraig had hot chocolate waiting back at the house, so all was well. This family has been part of our church family for a couple of years now and I have so enjoyed knowing all of them. Abby and my Kelsey are BFF and I just think she is the most adorable, sweet, precious child EVER. :) Ray, Angela, Emily, Addison, and Abby... hope you guys like the pics! I am just glad we got it done quickly! :)

Sheila had seen photos of several different people I have done lately, and she wanted a session to commemorate a birthday of hers. We got so lucky today to have a relatively warm, nice day for some pictures of her with some very special people to her. I really enjoyed getting to know these (VERY good-natured!) guys and Sheila today. Dwight, you are a great boyfriend to be so willing to take shots like this one! :) Thanks so much, Sheila, and I really enjoyed getting to know you guys! Enjoy your pics!

This cool (no pun intended) little family came by last Tuesday afternoon during the frigid temperatures to take some family shots and shots of adorable little Laney. I had taken pictures last winter for Tina and her sisters and was really excited to get to know Tina's husband, Wes, and Laney. We seriously (no exaggeration here) almost froze to death, but we somehow still ended up with some really cute pictures. I can't wait till summer to run around with this cutie and take some adorable warm weather shots!

These guys have been at our church for a year and a half now, but I feel like I have known them forever. Tanya was PTO President at my children's school the same year that she became our church secretary, they became members at our church, and Kylee was in my class at school. That was a lot of Rutherford! :) I have soooo enjoyed getting to know each one of them. Tanya does an amazing job as our church secretary and we are so blessed to have her with us. The kids are wonderful, Kyle and my husband, Kraig, teach a 4 year old boys' class together, and we are just so glad to call them all our friends! I was really excited to take their family pictures for Christmas and I cannot wait to do their whole extended family one day very soon. Hope you guys like them!

The Garrod family moved here this past summer. I first became acquainted with them in a Wednesday night elective class I was teaching about the Lessons of the Holocaust for the Church. They just seemed so interested and gave such great feedback (you know how we teachers LOVE that!) that I just felt drawn to them. We ended up getting to know each other quite well and I was so excited to take their family Christmas pictures! Mike, Amanda, Andrew, Jessica, and Hayley, thanks for letting me hang with you guys this morning! John and Juli, thanks for giving part of your Saturday for us to do this!

One family from church who I have always photographed around but never gotten to PHOTOGRAPH is the Howell family. I have done lots of pictures for their extended family, and one shoot of the extended family of their extended family’s in-law. (That makes perfect sense, right?) :) But TODAY... TODAY I got to take pictures of the Howell family. Raffe got his braces off this week and that smile is just too adorable. I cannot believe how old he looks in these pictures! It is actually kind of sad to me because if all these kids are growing up, guess who is growing old??? Howell’s, you looked awesome and I had a great time taking your Christmas pictures!!!

Wendy had Brayden over here a few weeks ago for Nikki’s senior session. Today, Brayden got a session ALL HIS OWN. :) And he loved it! This kid... there really aren’t words for how much that little mischievous smile will melt your heart. He looked SO cute in his outfit and John Deere boots and I had such fun taking his pictures! Brayden, you are a doll. And Buck loves you. :)

Some kids are willing to humor their parents and do things for them that might not have been their top choice all the time. Zach is one of those kids. His mom wanted him to take some Christmas pictures for her today and, kind and loving boy that he is, he complied. I had a wonderful time getting to know Zach and his mom today, and I am so glad you guys called for a session! The spring family pictures are going to be greeeaaat!!!! :)

You know how sometimes you will see a child and it is like you are looking back into your childhood at a friend of yours? And sometimes that child IS the child of your friend? That’s what it was like looking at Miss Lauren today. Her mother, Lori, grew up with me. We spent several summers together at Signal Mtn COG Youth Camp. Lori and Marc brought Lauren and Braxton over today for some family Christmas card shots and these kids were simply hilarious!!! Braxton is such a ham and I think Lauren can hold her own with him as well! I had such a good time with this family and I am anxious to do those family spring pics! :)

From the 10, come 8. And these 8 all belong to Nana (Pam) and Grandad (Doug). All Nana wants for Christmas is pictures of her babies. Well, pictures of her babies she got! And good ones, too! Pictured are: Andrew (15), the gentle heart; Chloe (11), the athlete; Kassidy (7), the girly-girl; Eli (7), the enthusiast; Elisha (6). the thinker; Yasmine (4), the animal lover; Dylan (3), the mellow guy; and Jacob (6 months)... well, he’s just a doll. I am so incredibly impressed with how easily this session happened and you guys are the most wonderful subjects ever! :) Love you!

My grandmother and grandaddy are the luckiest people on the planet. They get to look at these ten faces and think, “It all started with us.” :) These kids are all so much fun, these great grandchildren of Aleene and JD Silver. They love life and they love each other, and taking pictures of them can be quite a challenge. You perhaps remember this disastrous picture from last year... :) However, this year things went quite quickly and quite easily and we got some great shots. I just love these little people... thanks for indulging me!

We took some really fun shots about a month ago with the Annis family and grandparents, knowing that Baby Boy Annis would be here before we knew it. Mallory decided to take some maternity shots before Baby Boy makes his appearance within the next few weeks. Little Delaney was such a ham at this session and I think she is going to be such a great big sister! I have so enjoyed getting to know this little family through the past year of our photography relationship and I am really anxious to meet Mr. ________. :)

I don't do a whole lot of weddings. They stress me out, quite frankly. However, Lauren called me this summer about capturing her special day and I said yes mainly because I adore her cousin, Edie, and figured she must be pretty amazing too. I am thankful I did agree because I was right-- she is awesome. And so is John, her (now) husband. I just enjoyed their wedding day so much, from the beautiful and sentimental bouquet made by Lauren and her mom of family broaches and earrings, to the look on John's face when he looked into Lauren's eyes as they exchanged their vows. It was beautiful and so special and I was so happy to capture the moments. Here are some of my favorites from their beginning.
