Some Adirondack Chairs, a River, and a Happy Family

I think this session wins quite a few awards... for many things. Number one, it is one of only TWO sessions in all of these years I have had to cancel for any reason other than weather. It was supposed to be a Mother's Day gift and we were going to do it the day after prom in April. However, I went home from prom to TWO daughters with a stomach virus. I also have to say that this qualifies as one of the hottest sessions ever and they absolutely made me climb up and down more stuff work hard for the pictures. Last of all, though, this session was SO personalized and creative!!! I just loved that the girls did this for the mom for Mother's Day, that they had their own ideas for pictures and poses, that we did them in a special location to their family, and that these guys are so happy together! I taught Erica her senior year (and wish I had been able to get to know her before then!) and really loved meeting the rest of the Tipton gang! Thanks for thinking of me, Erica!!!

At Last...

I may not do weddings very often (by design-- because I typically only put myself in stressful situations on a limited basis), but I will say that I enjoy them when I do them. I love the excitement of the day, the family dynamics, the little details that are always so personalized... but especially I love capturing those little moments of raw emotion between the bride and groom. I do believe people grow more in love as they age, but I also think there is not another day of intense, high emotion in a marriage like a wedding day. Anissa asked me a while back to shoot her wedding and I happily agreed. I have known Anissa for six (?) years as a fellow English teacher at CHS. I have so enjoyed teaching in the same hex with her and spending time with her outside school. She is someone I can ALWAYS laugh with. She is also someone who has waited (mostly patiently) ;) for the Lord to bring her husband into her life. Her trust has been rewarded and Darius is now part of her life. They are such a great looking couple and so good together and I wish them years and years of His blessings!

One Day...

Yet again, I am so thankful to my previous clients. I don't really advertise at all and I am awful at utilizing my Davis Photography facebook (because I am just not sure HOW to use it in the business sense-- I am REALLY good at using my personal one!) and lately I have been pretty terrible at keeping this blog updated. How do I keep getting phone calls? Word of mouth. In this particular situation, the mom of these boys and the mom of this girl sent this sweet couple my way. Steven and Jessica were just a total joy to photograph. They are both mature, pleasant young people who really were very easy to get to know and fun to hang out with. I had a great time today and I wish them both the best in everything their future holds!

I Want So Badly to Use a Taylor Swift Lyric but I am Trying to Break the Habit...

What a privilege it was to do Courtney's senior session on this beautiful summer evening! She is the sister of one of my all-time favorite students (and that is saying a lot, considering he hated my very favorite AP book...) and her sweet mama contacted me a few weeks ago about taking her senior pics. She kept saying that I would love photographing Courtney and it didn't take me long into the session to see what she meant. Courtney is such a sweet, precious girl and she is SO photogenic! I didn't have to work hard AT ALL to make her look good-- she just intuitively knows what to do! Her choice of colors and clothes were so cute and her personality just glowed. I am so grateful I got to do this tonight and Courtney, I hope you LOVE your pics! :)

SO Glad to Meet the Gladdens!

Amy called me back at the beginning of summer, and once I FINALLY called her back, we decided the heat was a little much and we should wait till later. This was probably a wise choice because, though very hot, it was not the 100+ temps we were having early in the summer. I just had such a great time with this family! They were so much fun and so comfortable to be around (can you say ADORABLE?!?!?!)... from the kids to mom and dad to the dog... we just had a ball. I fell in love with their pictures in a way I can only fall in love with precious family photos and I am so glad I got to do their session! Gladdens, I hope you enjoy your pictures for years to come!!! :)
