This is Where I Come From...

This is where I come from... In this one picture are so many things... from the people who not only give me a past and a heritage, but those who will also give me a future and a legacy, to the literal ground that has passed through three generations of my family and now serves as the source of make believe and nature's playground for my two girls. There are so many things I love in this picture... so many things that have changed and will continue to change over time... so much that is yet unknown. My grandparents are the rock for all of us, the rock on which seven marriages have now been built, six families have now been based. They have never failed to show us what love for Him and love one for another looks like. From this solid foundation comes two stems of our family tree-- Doug and my mom. Doug and Pam and my parents have maintained and built on what they learned from Grandmother and Grandaddy. They have raised five children in Him and now are influencing grandchildren in the ways of the Lord. The branches extend at the next level in Melissa and Joey, Michelle and Freddy, Kraig and I, Jamie and Megan, and Natalie and Josh. We have seen God's faithfulness in the lives of our parents and grandparents and are establishing our own families in the image of those who came before us. The future, though... the future is in the hands of the limbs. Andrew and Eli, Chloe and Kassidy, Emma and Kelsey, and Elisha, Yasmine, Dylan, and Jacob... they have not yet shown what they are capable of, where they might be called, and whose they will become. They are the test of faith for all of us, to see if they too will allow Him to guide and direct their paths to spouses who love them, fulfilling careers and a lifelong sense of wonder at His provision.

17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the LORD’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.
Psalm 103:16-18

He Lives!

Happy Easter from Davis Photography!

From this...

To this....

Till one day this...

I am so grateful to serve a risen Lord who walks with me not just on Easter morning, but every day of my life!

Some Girls...

... you only have to meet once to know what sweet, genuine people they really are! And Laura is one of those girls. I was struck immediately by how friendly and caring both she and her precious mom, Tina, were. I felt at ease from the first second of the session and we just have such a good time taking her pictures (and even picking them out!). Laura is set to graduate from Walker Valley High School in just a few weeks. I know that she will have a great college career at Lee U and I am really excited about the possibility of family pictures of the (large!) Benson family! Thanks so much, guys! Congrats, Laura!!!

She's Ready to Move On...

I have enjoyed every single time I have gotten to take pictures of this sweet girl. The Lambert family is one of my favorite families at my church (from WEST VIRGINIA!) and I always love to be around them! We have done lots of sessions over the years (Sweet Sixteen and Senior for her sister, Tenielle, prom sessions, and recently a Sweet Sixteen for Taylor). I am just waiting on the day we get to do a family session for all the Lamberts! :)

They Jump then Fall...

(Disclaimer: I have something of a Taylor Swift addiction. OK? The lyrics are just too good and make excellent blog post titles.) :)

I got to do pics for some of this same prom group last year at the Cleveland Country Club. This year, I did not hear from them until the last minute but we were all so lucky in that it worked out perfectly for them to meet me after my other session in Coolidge Park! We had a wonderful time snapping some cool shots and I am so glad I heard from them again. I have done Audrea's family pictures earlier in this year (in the fall) and was excited to see her again. Hope it was a great prom evening, guys!

LAST Prom Night...!

Last Saturday, I got to go to the one of the most beautiful places around (in some GORGEOUS-- though HOT-- weather!) and take pictures of this beautiful group of teenagers! I have gotten to do pictures for Nikki and Chris several times and have done prom pics for this group one or two(?) other times. I have also done Erika's pictures before! Basically, it was like a big reunion before their senior prom. :) Had a lot of fun, guys! You are beautiful!
